Delays are expected in all suburban train services between Thessaloniki and Larissa, due to yesterday’s fire in Litochoro and the loss of electricity, Hellenic Train said in a post.

The same post notes that there is a single line between Litochoro and Platy.

Rail authorities have ordered an investigation into the collision of a train with a tree in the eastern outskirts of Thessaloniki in which a driver was slightly injured by broken glass.

A woman died on Monday morning after being hit by a commercial train near the Thessaloniki Police Headquarters in the area of Menemeni, state-run news agency AMNA reported.

The police is looking into the case while authorities are waiting for the train driver's statement to determine he circumstances of the accident.

The first of five White Arrow high-speed trains ordered by the Greek railway operator Trainose arrived in Thessaloniki from Italy on January 16, two days earlier than scheduled, the company said on Monday.

Trains in Greece were temporarily stopped on the Thessaloniki-Athens railway route after a train derailed near Larissa, central Greece, around 8.30 on Thursday. It is not clear what caused the accident. There is no information about injuries and damages.

Railway operator TRAINOSE says all services have been restored, Bulgarian news agency reported.
