Djere defeated in Wimbledon first round

LONDON - Serbian tennis player Laslo Djere has suffered an early exit from Wimbledon after losing 3-6, 7-6(7-4), 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 to Frenchman Lucas Pouille in the first round on Wednesday.

Pouille won after a total of two hours and 53 minutes of play.

The encounter began on Tuesday but was interrupted by a rain delay, with the score tied 1-1 in sets.

RIO DE JANEIRO - Serbian tennis player Dusan Lajovic is through to the quarter-finals of the Rio de Janeiro ATP tournament after a 6-2, 7-5 victory over compatriot Laslo Djere.

World number 58 Lajovic, who won after an hour and 50 minutes of play, is now 3-2 head-to-head against Djere, who is 35th in the ATP rankings.

KRALJEVO - Serbia are out of the tennis Davis Cup after a shock 4-0 defeat to Slovakia in a qualifier for the competition's group stage, played in Kraljevo, central Serbia, at the weekend.

On Friday, Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic lost (7-6 (7-2) 6-2) to Lukas Klein and Dusan Lajovic was defeated 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 by Alex Molcan.

MELBOURNE - Serbians Aleksandra Krunic, Laslo Djere and Dusan Lajovic are all out of the Australian Open after first round singles defeats on Tuesday.

Krunic lost 6-4, 6-1 to Frenchwoman Clara Burel, who won after 68 minutes of play.

In a five-set thriller, Djere was defeated 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 by Frenchman Arthur Cazaux after three hours and 28 minutes of play.

MALAGA - The Serbia Davis Cup team completed a training session in Malaga ahead of Thursday's tie against Great Britain in the Davis Cup Finals quarter-finals.

The training session was led by head coach Viktor Troicki and Janko Tipsarevic, a recent addition to the coaching staff.

BELGRADE - The head coach of the Serbia men's national tennis team Viktor Troicki on Monday announced the Serbia squad for the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga, the Tennis Association of Serbia said.

In a statement, it said Troicki had made one change in the lineup compared to the Davis Cup tournament in Valencia, replacing Nikola Cacic with Hamad Medjedovic.
