Orders to remove illegal table seating in public places in Athens up 54%
More violations of the regulations on the placement on table seating in public places were recorded in the first quarter of the year in Athens, data from the Athens Municipality has shown.
From January to April, Municipal police found 1,246 cases violations of the regulations on table seating, an increase of 54% on the same period in 2023.
PASOK says minister must be held accountable in voter data leak scandal
The socialist opposition party PASOK reacted on Friday to the scandal involving the unauthorized release of official voter registration data from the Interior Ministry, while calling for Minister Niki Kerameus to be held accountable for the breach.

Crowd lashes out at gov't officials at Polytechnic uprising memorial
A few dozen members of a crowd gathered outside the historic Athens Polytechnic building to mark the November 17 anniversary of a 1973 student uprising against Greece's military dictatorship lashed out a group of leftist government officials who came to pay their respects at a memorial to the movement's victims on Friday morning.
Tension among immigrants at Tae Kwon Do
Episodes occurred among the immigrants who were transferred from Idomeni, north Greece’s borders to Tae Kwon Do stadium in Athens.
On Saturday morning police officers had to intervene when the immigrants started fighting each other. Police arrested about 100 people, while the groups responsible for the episodes were isolated from the other immigrants.

Prosecutor asks for former Cypriot minister's conviction in money laundering case
An Athens prosecutor on Thursday asked for former Cypriot Interior Minister Dinos Michailidis (photo) and his son, Michalis, to be found guilty for their alleged involvement in a case involving kickbacks from defense deals.
Former Greek Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos has already been convicted for his alleged role in the money laundering network.
