Turkey to use airport in occupied Cyprus as base for F-16s ‘if necessary,’ says report
Ankara is mulling over the possibility of using an airport on Turkish-occupied Cyprus as a base for F-16 fighter jets, reports said Wednesday, a move that would further stoke tension with Athens and Nicosia.
A report in the pro-government Yeni Safak newspaper said that the airport would be used by the country's F-16s "if necessary."

The first Turkish military drone on Dec. 16 landed at Geçitkale Airport in the eastern coastal city of Magusa (Famagusta) in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Two dead as training aircraft crashes in occupied north of Cyprus
Turkish Cypriot police say two 46-year-old men have been killed after their small, fixed-wing training aircraft crashed at an airport in the Turkish-occupied north of Cyprus.
Police said the aircraft crashed shortly after noon Tuesday near the terminal at Gecitkale airport, also known in Greek as Lefkoniko, while on a training flight.
