Since the outbreak of the global economic crisis in autumn of 2008, which rocked the foundations of the Greek economy and led the country to the brink of bankruptcy and expulsion from the Eurozone, Greeks have exerted an almost constant effort to disentangle and free the country of the heavy shackles of deficits and debt.

SYRIZA trails ruling New Democracy by 9.2 percentage points in new GPO poll
A new Economic Barometer poll conducted by GPO shows SYRIZA trailing New Democracy by 9.2 percentage points.
The ruling party garnered 31.2 percent compared to 22 percent for the main opposition.
Centre-left KINAL has been steadily rising and has reached 14.4 percent.
Tsipras tables ‘no confidence’ motion against Greek gov’t in Parliament

SYRIZA's economic policy as regards bolstering the middle class, youth and pensioners was the central topic at SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras no-hold-barred televised news conference today at the Thessaloniki International Trade Fair (TIF), where the underlying message was that his party is ready to rule and create a "progressive government".
Tsipras called on the Greek PM to announce snap elections, “if he has the courage to do so”
At the beginning of the press conference, at the Thessaloniki International Fair, the President of Syriza, Alexis Tsipras, referred to the issue of snap elections, calling on the Prime Minister to announce them "if he has the courage to do so".
The leader of the opposition also referred to the pandemic, blaming the government for the manipulations and the course of the vaccinations.
