The Treasure and Finance Ministry has initiated the printing of a commemorative coin in memory of Lefter Küçükandonyadis, one of the legendary players of Turkish football giant Fenerbahçe, marking the first such incident for a football player.

Famous veteran Turkish journalist Halit Kıvanç died at the age of 97 on Oct. 25.

The death of Kıvanç, one of the country's most well-known sports commentators, was announced by his son Ümit Kıvanç in a Twitter post. "The funeral will be held in Zincirlikuyu Cemetery on Oct. 27," he said.

Over 15,000 people from the Yağlıdere district of the Black Sea province of Giresun have immigrated to the United States since the 1960s, making it the Turkish district most represented in the U.S., daily Habertürk has reported.

Oil pollution that struck the beach of the Albanian port and resort of Durres a few days ago has revealed the negligence of institutions in preventing such situations.

Albania has also been slow in implementing regulations to ensure greater discipline regarding the waste management of ships anchored in the country's ports.
