Lemon sauce production to be banned: Ministry

Within the scope of the measures taken by the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry, the production of lemon sauce flavored with lemon aroma will be banned in the domestic market.

Selim Kaplan, the head of the Food Enterprises of the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry, explained the details of the decision taken on the subject.

Turkey subjects lemon to export control amid COVID-19

Turkey has subjected lemons to export control amid a rising domestic demand due to the coronavirus pandemic, an official notification said on April 7. 

The restriction beginning Tuesday will continue until the end of this August.

Lemon is mainly being used for the production of cologne, which serves as an alcohol-based disinfectant.

Minor collared in Corinth over 10 tons of stolen lemons

An Albanian minor was being questioned by police in Corinth on Tuesday on suspicion of stealing more than 10 tons of lemons from orchards across the municipality of Sikionia worth an estimated 10,000 euros.

The boy’s 49-year-old father was detained on charges of neglectful supervision of a minor and two Greeks were charged with receiving and trading in stolen goods.
