French police shot and arrested a man on Wednesday suspected of deliberately ramming his car into a group of soldiers in a Parisian suburb hours earlier, injuring six of them in what the government called a deliberate attack.

Six French soldiers have been injured after a car slammed into them in Paris before speeding away in what the suburb's mayor called a deliberate act, reported The Independent.

Two of the soldiers have been seriously wounded while the others sustained light injuries, the Paris Police Authority said.

The vehicle, a BMW, rammed the group as they were leaving their barracks in Levallois-Perret, a northwestern suburb of the French capital, Paris police have said.
