A nurse has been sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment over the fatal beating of a 21-year-old patient who lived in a facility for young people with disabilities in eastern Thessaloniki.

The young man died in hospital November 2021 after being beaten in the home.

A 30-year-old man in Thessaloniki was convicted to four years and four months in jail on Wednesday for beating his wife and their three young children. 

Due to repeated abusive behavior, the court ruled that he should serve the sentence until the appeal trial.

After a trial lasting 14 months, a mixed jury court on Friday sentenced Roula Pispirigou to life imprisonment for the murder of her eldest daughter, Georgina.

Both the jury and judges found the 35-year-old woman from the western port city of Patra guilty as charged in the indictment.

The 35-year-old was unanimously found guilty of premeditated manslaughter in a calm mental state. Pispirigou heard the verdict without reacting

A 25-year-old musician was arrested early Saturday morning in Thessaloniki for the brutal beating of a 23-year-old university student in the city center a week ago. The victim remains in hospital in critical condition.

A 35-year-old man arrested on New Year's Eve for fatally stabbing his 62-year-old father in their home in Peristeri, western Athens, has been remanded in custody after appearing before an investigative magistrate.

The suspect was accompanied by his mother, his sister and a friend as he arrived to respond to charges of intentional manslaughter, and carrying and using a weapon.

A 35-year-old man who was arrested on December 31 for fatally stabbing his 62-year-old father in their home in Peristeri, western Athens, will appear before a prosecutor on Wednesday. 

The assailant, who reportedly contacted authorities himself, allegedly attacked his father in the presence of his mother, causing injuries to the victim's body, chest, and leg. 

An Istanbul prosecutor's office has sought aggravated life imprisonment for the four suspects in the case of a deadly shop raid in Istanbul's Esenyurt district, which sparked a significant public outcry in July.

New information has come to light about the 71-year-old man who admitted to the fatal shooting of his ex-partner in her home on the island of Salamina earlier this week.

According to police sources, the man was reported for domestic violence in 2013 by his then partner.
