Insurance turnover posts growth

The year's first five months showed an increase in the insurance business by 12.1%, compared to January-May 2023, part of which is fueled by the increase in premiums, as well as the growth in sales for residential and business insurance after the catastrophic advent of Storm Daniel last September. 

Insurance market registers 2.3% of GDP, first gross premiums go up by 5% in 2020

The Romanian insurance market had a weight of 2.3% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2020, and the first gross premiums have gone up to 11.5 billion RON, rising by 5% from 2019, announced on Thursday, during a specialty conference, Nicu Marcu, the chairman of the the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF).

Hikes in health premiums on the way

The cost of compensation paid by insurance companies for treatment based on the single health index compiled annually by the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE) is seen as a harbinger of steep price hikes in the insurance premiums of long-term health programs, to the tune of up to 11%.

69% of the Gross Premium Income of the Non-Life Insurance in Bulgaria Comes From Motor Insurance

The gross premium income of the non-life insurance companies reached BGN 403,109,672 at the end of February, according to the Financial Supervision Commission. A little over 69% of it comes from motor insurance, and 15% is under "Fire and natural disasters" and "other property damage".
