No Flooding Risk in Bulgarian Section of Danube Despite Recent Rainfall in Central Europe

The Danube River has recently reached its peak levels due to heavy rainfall in Europe, resulting in overflows in Budapest. However, officials in Bulgaria report that there is no danger of flooding in the Bulgarian section of the river. The Agency for Research and Maintenance of the Danube is continuously monitoring water levels, which remain well within safe limits.

At Vidin Border on the 24th of November, a passenger car arrived with two Bulgarian citizens - a man and a woman. Migrant-Smuggling Gang Caught in Bulgaria

Bulgarian authorities have smashed a gang suspected of smuggling migrants into Western Europe, prosecutors said in a statement on Wednesday.

Eight people, including two Pakistanis, were charged with smuggling offences after they transported migrants, mainly Pakistanis, Afghans and Iraqis, from Turkey into Romania and then to Hungary and Austria, the statement said.

Record Amount of Heroin Seized at Bulgarian-Romanian Border

The narcotic substance was found in a cargo truck with terracotta tiles delivered to a warehouse in Bulgaria from Iran, according to Standart newspaper, cited by BNR.

The tiles with a total weight of 23 tons travelled from Bulgaria to Holland.

The truck with the terracotta was stopped for a check by the team of the Customs in Lom on the Dunav.

Donors Campaign for Books Being Organized on The World Book and Copyright Day

On the World Book and Copyright Day 23 April the club "Chitalishte.to" is organizing a donors campaign for books, reported BNR. They will be send to different community centers in Bulgaria.

The books will be collected from 11:00 to 15:00 at the "Chitalishte.to" 's office on the "Lom" Street in Sofia.
