Direct flights from Sofia to Marseille, France start from 2 October. They are part of the new itineraries that a number of airlines add to their winter schedule, including Bulgaria, summarize air travel experts, eSky Travel Agency.

Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, welcomed 1 new, highly efficient Airbus A320 in Bulgaria and launched 6 new routes from Varna. The new destinations from the sea capital are Berlin, Cologne, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Liverpool and Paris, with the first flights from Varna to Copenhagen, Hamburg and Berlin.

Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair has announced that it has launched a new route from Sofia. Flights will be to the East Midlands airport in the UK, about an hour and a half to Nottingham.

Flights will start in January 2020.

The company reports that flights can be booked for dates until March 28th next year, thus passengers could benefit from the lower prices right now.

Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, has already transported 15 million passengers from Bulgaria. This is another achievement for the company this year after Wizz Air recently celebrated 200 million passengers since its inception in 2004 and became the airline with the smallest ecological footprint of a passenger in Europe. 

Turkey's leading low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines plans to add 150 new pilots to its crew, according to the company's general manager.

New low-cost flights between Sofia and Germany are launched by the German low-cost airline Eurowings. The carrier's airplanes start flights between the Bulgarian capital Sofia and the German cities Stuttgart and Dusseldorf from October 31st. The flights will be twice a week. The planes to Stuttgart will fly Tuesday and Sunday, and to Dusseldorf on Thursday and Saturday.

Irish low-cost air carrier Ryanair has entered the top 10 of the largest air pollutants in Europe, taking the tenth place and becoming the only airline in the unprecedented ranking of coal-fired power plants, including the Bulgarian Maritsa East 2 TPP ". BBC reported on Tuesday, citing data from the independent European Transport and Environment NGO.

Wizz Air, one of Europe's fastest growing airlines and the leading low-cost carrier in Central and Eastern Europe, was named Best Low Cost Airlines for 2018 in the Central and Eastern Europe Region and also received the Best cabin crew award, Econ.bg writes. 

More than 150 people were stuck at Sofia airport for 12 hours. The reason was a long delay to a flight to Barcelona. The airline explained to the passengers that weather problems forced the plane to wait for hours to depart from Jordan.

Just days after being hit with negative publicity for redirecting a flight from London destined for Thessaloniki's Makedonia Airport to Timisoara in Romania due to the weather conditions at the Greek airport, Irish low-fare carrier Ryanair announced on Sunday that it will be halting its domestic service linking Athens with Thessaloniki.
