Doctors Without Borders pays tribute to Yannis Behrakis

Doctors Without Borders (Medecins sans Frontieres) has published a video paying tribute to Yannis Behrakis, the late photojournalist whose poignant images helped raise international awareness of the plight of hundreds of thousands of refugees trying to escape war at the peak of the migrant crisis in Greece in 2015 and 2016.

More than 10,000 migrants and refugees arrived in Greece from Turkey through the northern Evros river crossing in the first half of 2018, a non governmental organisation said on Thursday, a quicker pace of arrivals compared to 2017.

The figure outstrips an estimated 7,500 of arrivals from Evros in 2017 overall, a Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) Greece official told Reuters.

The Greek chapter of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) announced on Wednesday it will start offering medical services at the country's border region of Evros to help refugees and migrants crossing over from Turkey, as the number of arrivals swelled. 

MSF said over 10,000 people have arrived in the country illegally in the first half of 2018, exceeding the total numbers in 2017.
