US halts sending bomb-sniffing dogs to Jordan, Egypt as seven die
The U.S. State Department said on Dec. 23 it has stopped sending explosive-detecting dogs to Jordan and Egypt over concerns of deaths of deployed dogs from causes like heat stroke and poisoning.

Three Belgian Malionois joined the Russian armed forces last week. Security forces, both police and army have long been using canines in missions. But what makes these puppies special is the fact that they are cloned! The Belgian Malinois were created from best South Korean sniffer dogs, cloned to maximise unique abilities working for police or security service.

RIP Diesel, another victim of the terrorist attacks (pics)
A Belgian shepherd dog, called Diesel, was killed on Wednesday as one female suicide bomber blew herself out during a police shoot-out with a number of suspected terrorists, that may have included the lead plotter of the Paris attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud.
Vreni, the first avalanche rescue dog certified in Romania
The city of Caransebes can boast an avalanche response team complete with the first avalanche rescue dog to have earned his certification in Romania. It's actually a female Belgian Malinois, "her name is Vreni, and she's 20 months old. This is the first dog born, trained, tested and certified in Romania for avalanche search and rescue.
