Govt panics as farmers escalate battles with tractors at every corner
Four days ahead of strike action scheduled for Thursday, February 4, the government appears unable to appease farmers in their social security demands. The intensity of the farmers’ reaction to planned measures with road blocks around the country appear to have surprised the government with fears that the situation could create a spill-over effect of discontent to other factions.
New foreign investments are important for Greece’s economy, Mardas says
Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Mardas spoke at Capital Link investment conference in New York and called on investors to show confidence and invest in Greece.
He referred to government’s new policies which aim to attract new foreign investments and promote exports.

Govt seeks to speed up investment licensing process
Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Mardas told Athina 9.84 FM radio station on Tuesday that the government would speed up the procedure for investments licensing.
“Taking into account that the licensing of investments may take 1 to 4 years, we plan to reduce it to six months. This would be a breakthrough,” he said.

Foreign diplomats present their images of Greece
The photo exhibition, titled “Greece through the diplomats’ lens”, is currently featured at the “Melina Mercouri” Athens Cultural Center. Around 70 photos of Greece as seen through the eyes of foreign diplomats in Greece is presented in a display that showcases Greek antiquities, inviting Greek islands surrounded by the blue of the sea and sky.
