Mardin Province

Two Iranians have been arrested over providing intelligence and conducting reconnaissance for the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the southeastern province of Mardin. 

Two Iranians, who were seen taken pictures of the Mardin Municipality, were charged with taking the photographs in order to carry out attacks on behalf of the PKK.

Mardin Co-Mayor Ahmet Türk was referred to a court with a demand for his arrest on Nov. 24 after he was ousted from his elected position by Turkey's authorities.

Excavations in the southeastern province of Mardin's ancient city of Dara have unearthed a 6th century cistern. The Roman-era cistern was found in a field used as a barn. 

Nihat Erdoğan, the director of the Mardin Museum, said excavation works have been ongoing in the 3,000-year-old ancient city of Dara, located on the road to Mardin's Nusaybin district. 

Police on Nov. 21 detained former Mardin co-mayor Ahmet Türk from the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), four days after he was dismissed from his post as a part of a terror investigation, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Police conducted searches at Türk's residence in Mardin at around 10:15 a.m. before he was subsequently taken to the police headquarters to testify.

Security forces in Yüksekova have seized images and video recordings of outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants allegedly showing them preparing hand-made explosives using dozens of teapots.

Three Syrian migrant children were killed and six others were injured after a fire broke out at a tent city in the Derik district of Turkey's southeastern Mardin province. The fire was the second reported in one week, after 21 tents burned down on March 25. 

The outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has staged attacks in several districts of the southeastern province of Diyarbak?r, killing one policeman, as clashes spread to a number of other towns in the southeast on March 15. 
Another police officer was killed in the Nusaybin district of Mardin province. 

Turkish security forces have stepped up vehicle and personnel deliveries to the southeastern towns of Yüksekova and Nusaybin, after curfews in both were declared on March 13 ahead of large-scale operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

Two Turkish police officers have been killed and 35 other people wounded in a massive car bomb attack carried out by militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the country's southeastern town of Nusaybin amid a fresh offensive by the militant group that killed two soldiers in another town nearby. 

Locals from the southeastern town of Nusaybin have started to flee their homes after Turkey's interior minister signaled last week that operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) would expand to the town.

A curfew has been enforced in Nusaybin, located in Mardin province on the border with Syria, on six separate occasions in recent months.
