Music school alumni bring Maria Callas back home
The Cultural Center of Kalamata in the northwestern Peloponnese unveiled a permanent exhibition on Maria Callas on December 2, the day that, had the great Greek opera diva been alive, she would have turned 101 years old. It was a good day for the capital of Messinia and for the region, a homecoming of sorts, of a world-celebrated artist whose humble roots lay in the village of Neochori.

Callas Lives On | Athens | December 7
The Maria Callas Museum (44 Mitropoleos, mariacallasmuseum.gr) in Athens will host its second annual street party on December 7, celebrating the iconic opera singer's legacy. Petrachi Street, behind the museum, will transform into a vibrant dance floor with a DJ set by local artists Demetra Kakounaki and Giota Kotseta. The night will mix opera classics with jazz, funk and nu-disco.

Maria Callas: Opera Gala for the scholarships she established at the Megaron Concert Hall
A special opera gala aimed at supporting the educational goals of the “Maria Callas Scholarships” Association, founded by the opera legend herself, will take place on Friday, October 4, 2024, in the Christos Lambrakis Hall of the Athens Concert Hall.
The event will feature two distinguished soloists, soprano Alexia Voulgaridou and baritone Aris Argiris.
