Production based on Jančar’s award-winning novel premieres in Maribor
Maribor – A major international production, I Saw Her That Night, based on the novel by Drago Jančar and directed by Janez Pipan, will open at the Slovenian National Theatre (SNG) Maribor on Friday. The show was produced in cooperation with the Vienna Burgtheater, the Yugoslavian Drama Theatre and Ljubljana’s Cankarjev Dom.
Exhibition dedicated to artist Zoran Mušič opens in Maribor
Maribor – An exhibition of the work by Zoran Mušič, the most internationally recognised artist of Slovenian origin, opens at the Maribor Art Gallery (UGM) on Saturday. Subsidised public transportation in Slovenia expanded
Ljubljana – Slovenia will significantly expand subsidised public transportation starting on 1 September in an effort to boost ridership and limit the use of cars.
Students with subsidised transport passes will no longer be limited to the home-to-school route, they will be able to travel on all routes in Slovenia year-round.

Maribor – An exhibition on the joint struggle of the Western Allies and the Soviet Union against Nazism during the Second World War will open on Thursday at the Maribor International Research Centre for Second World War in cooperation with the Moscow Museum of the Great Patriotic War.
Govt endorses plans for logistic hub in Maribor airport area
Ljubljana – The government is planning for a multi-modal logistics hub to be built as part of development of Maribor airport until 2025. The Smart Hub Maribor is to be expanded from the initial 50 hectares to 630 hectares in 2030, Infrastructure Minister Jernej Vrtovec announced after the government session on Thursday.
Maribor Theatre Festival to be held in-person in June
Maribor – The 56th Maribor Theatre Festival will be held from 14 to 27 June instead of its usual slot in October, but it will be held fully in-person. Its artistic director Aleš Novak said that while many other festivals decided to go hybrid, they insisted on fully live events.
Judge halts procedure against student protester
Maribor – A Maribor judge has announced halting misdemeanour proceedings against a student for taking part in a peaceful protest in Maribor in February calling for schools reopening. The student’s defence counsel Dino Bauk expects the same decision to be taken in the case of two other students facing same charges.

Crowd gathers in support of student appearing in court over school rally
Maribor – Some 100 people rallied peacefully in front of the Maribor District Court on Thursday as the first student ordered to appear in front of a magistrate because she took part in a protest demanding the reopening of schools in February was due in court.
