Maribor – A few hundred people gathered in Freedom Square in Maribor on Saturday afternoon to protest the government’s measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The event was monitored by police officers, who were calling on the protesters on loudspeakers to respect the measures, only to be booed.

Hoče – The Environment Agency issued a preliminary environmental approval this week for an expansion of the factory of the automotive giant Magna near Maribor. The document has been sent to the planing authorities, while archaeologists are already inspecting the site.

Ljubljana – Slovenia observed on Monday Rudolf Maister Day, a public holiday in memory of the general who established the first Slovenian army in modern history and secured what would became Slovenia’s northern border.

The ministry said on Friday that the recommendation related to "closure of exhibitions, libraries, cancellation of shows, round table debates, workshops and other events attracting a large number of people."
