Gov’t express concern over ICC arrest warrant bid for Netanyahu

Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis expressed Athens' concern over the ICC prosecutor's arrest warrant bid for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a press brief, on Thursday. 

According to Marinakis, the Greek government questions whether this decision serves conflict resolution efforts in the Middle East.

The Greek government has pledged to conduct a thorough investigation to determine whether all necessary protocols were followed by the police force following the fatal stabbing of a 28-year-old woman outside an Athens police precinct, where she had just sought protection from her ex-boyfriend.

Washington trip called off due to ND conference

The planned visit to Washington next week by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to attend the annual event commemorating the Greek Revolution has been canceled as it coincides with the conference of ruling New Democracy. 

Mitsotakis was to travel to the US on April 4 to attend the White House event where he was to also have a meeting with President Joe Biden. 

Gov’t says it stands by same-sex marriage pledge even after opposition from the Church

Greece's center-right government said Thursday it would fulfill a commitment to legalize same-sex marriage, sidestepping staunch opposition from the country's influential Orthodox Church.

The legislation would be brought to parliament during the house's current term, which ends in 2027, said government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis.
