"Being a global financial, logistics and trading hub, Hong Kong will continue to play the important role of a 'super-connector' between Slovenia and the Mainland of China.

Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged $124 billion on May 14 for his ambitious new Silk Road plan to forge a path of peace, inclusiveness and free trade, and called for the abandonment of old models based on rivalry and diplomatic power games.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will visit China to join a summit for the "Belt and Road," Beijing's ambitious international logistics and trade plan, Deputy Prime Minister Tuğrul Türkeş has said. 

OBOR comprises the 'Silk Road Economic Belt' and the '21st Century Maritime Silk Road'. The historic connotation is not accidental: the benefits of lively economic and cultural activity along the historic Silk Road should be revived, deepened and expanded with modern technology and know-how.

China's Silk Road initiative is a real game-changer, irrespective of whether it will succeed or not as planned, in realizing its ambitious one belt and one road project. 

It is the brainchild of ambitious President Xi Jinping, who wants to leave behind a lasting legacy while at the same time connecting China to the world's high value markets and sources of energy and raw materials.

Two recent initiatives will likely galvanize the "Middle Kingdom" - already the world's most populous country, second largest economy, number-one trading nation, and biggest energy consumer - into further consolidating its global ambitions. 

Chinese President Xi Jinping first mentioned the concept of a new Silk Road in 2013, one that would reach the West from China both from land and sea. 

There are two legs of the ?New Silk Road.? The first is inspired by the traditional Silk Road dating way back to the Egyptians before Christ, a territorial one called ?Silk Road Economic Belt.?

Since the end of the Cold War, the international system has been fluctuating. While the bipolar system has ended, no equivalent is in place yet. In the early days of the post-Cold War era, some talked about the unipolar moment as the United States dominated the world with its unrivalled economic and military power.
