Freedom Movement approves merger with LMŠ, SAB
Ljubljana – The senior coalition Freedom Movement approved with more than 90% of votes mergers with the non-parliamentary parties the Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) and the Alenka Bratušek Party (SAB) in an online congress on Monday.

Poll: Freedom Movement still ahead despite losing support
Ljubljana – The ruling Freedom Movement is staying in the lead, polling at 33% in the June Vox Populi opinion poll commissioned by the newspapers Dnevnik and Večer. For the first time in two years, the work of the government is viewed as successful, although almost half of respondents remain undecided.
Freedom Movement makes gains in Delo poll
Ljubljana – The Freedom Movement has gained 4.6 percentage points to 31% in the June poll commissioned by the newspaper Delo to extend its margin ahead of the Democratic Party (SDS) to 9.5 points, despite the opposition party reaching its high watermark.

SDS says government already trampled on constitution
Ljubljana – Opposition SDS MP Branko Grims has accused the Robert Golob government of trampling on the constitution as soon as it came to power; he cited its demand to compile lists of staff that were hired during the previous two governments and the interior minister’s withdrawal of consent for the suits regarding anti-government rallies.
Paper critical of govt decision to review appointments
Koper – Primorske Novice finds it unusual that the Robert Golob government has decided to review all appointments, reassignments and promotions in the state administration since 1 January 2020 to see whether some staff got the job through political connections. The newspaper believes this will do little to solve the problem.

Ljubljana – Mladina editor-in-chief Grega Repovž warns the winner of the general election Robert Golob against repeating the mistake of several newly emerged centre-left leaders before him, who got carried away by their election success and adopted an arrogant attitude towards potential coalition partners.
PM, speaker say voters are always right, party heads upbeat
Ljubljana – Parliamentary Speaker Igor Zorčič told the STA as he cast a ballot in Velike Malence near Brežice today that citizens always made the right decision in election. Prime Minister and Democrats (SDS) head Janez Janša, who voted in Šentilj near Velenje, expressed a similar view. Several other party heads were optimistic as well.

Ljubljana – Slovenian voters will head to the polls on Sunday in an election that analysts say will determine whether Slovenia continues on the conservative path paved by the Janez Janša government over the last two years, or takes a more leftist turn under newcomer Robert Golob and parties that are currently in opposition. Polls show everything is still open.
Poll projects close race for 3rd place and for entry into parliament
Ljubljana – The final Mediana poll ahead of Sunday’s general election gave the Freedom Movement a 21.1% support rating, which puts it 0.6 percentage points ahead of the ruling Democrats (SDS). Things have meanwhile gotten even more crowded in the important race under way around the 4% parliamentary threshold, shows the poll, published on Friday.
Final election debate on public TV goes awry
Ljubljana – The final debate of the election campaign hosted by the public broadcaster TV Slovenija last night ended in disarray after the host lost control of debate and opposition leaders walked out of the studio one by one after having their say.
