Authority bans saying implying ‘water is cheap’ inhouse
The deputy director of Turkey's General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works has banned the saying "Sudan Ucuz," which means "cheaper than water," from being used inhouse, drawing attention to climate change.
"This saying is now history here. Water is more expensive than anything and, in fact, everything," Kaya Yıldız told daily Milliyet.
Napoleonic jewels dazzle in Geneva auction
A jewelry set worn by French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte's adopted daughter sold for $1.65 million in Geneva on May 12, soaring way above the pre-auction estimate.
Marking the 200th anniversary of Napoleon's death, Christie's auction house sold the nine imperial jewels adorned with sapphires and diamonds, which were from the collection of his adopted daughter Stephanie de Beauharnais.

Instagram tiara, Kashmir sapphire shine in Geneva auction
A Savoy royal tiara which everyone could try on via Instagram, and the largest Kashmir sapphire ever auctioned sold for millions of dollars each on May 11.
The tiara went for $1.6 million and the sapphire fetched $3.9 million when the historic treasures went under the hammer at Sotheby's auction house in Geneva.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality starts campaign on careful use of water
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has warned residents to use water more efficiently as water levels in the city's dams decreased to 24.4 percent, almost half of the rate in the same month last year.
The reason for this sharp fall was the lack of rain in November, the municipality said.
Water levels were at 45.27 percent in the same month last year.

The Defence Ministry (MApN) on Wednesday announced that the Cantacuzino Institute released on Wednesday only 942 bottles of the dietary supplement OROSTIM-HV, which strengthens the body's immunity to respiratory infections, but production can be increased if privately-owned companies get involved.
Industrial production down 38.4pct in April 2020
In April 2020 against the corresponding month of the previous year, industrial production fell by 38.4% as gross series and dropped 38.6% as series adjusted by number of working days and seasonality, according to the data published by the National Institute of Statistic (INS) on Friday.

Turkey’s manufacturing capacity rises in May
Turkey's manufacturing industry used 62.6% of its capacity in May, the country's Central Bank said on May 22.
The capacity utilization rate (CUR) of the sector rose 1 percentage points on a monthly basis, the bank survey showed.
