Bangladesh is working to prevent a fresh influx of stateless and persecuted Rohingya refugees, its caretaker government has said, after thousands crossed the border from Myanmar in recent weeks.

Turkey's first shipment of humanitarian aid arrived on Sept. 6 in Myanmar's Rakhine state, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has said.       
Some 1,000 tons of emergency aid packages containing rice, dried fish and clothing were delivered to the Social Services Ministry in the Rakhine state at a handover ceremony, according to the statement.  
  

Turkish foreign minister on Sept. 2 decried other Muslim countries' silence on the plight of the Rohingya Muslims. 

"There are a great many Muslim countries. Where are they? Why are they silent?" Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu asked at an event marking the Muslim Eid-al Adha holiday in the Mediterranean province of Antalya. 

At least four soldiers were killed in a third day of clashes in Myanmar’s troubled Rakhine state on Tuesday, the army said.
State media said the soldiers were attacked by 300 men armed with pistols, swords and knives.
Nine police officers were killed in co-ordinated attacks at the weekend along Myanmar’s border with Bangladesh.

Myanmar brought ashore more than 700 "boat people" it had kept at sea for days aboard a seized vessel, as the United States on June 3 called on the country to help solve a migrant crisis by recognising the rights of its Muslim Rohingya minority. 

Myanmar's navy has carried out its first rescue of a migrant boat, bringing 208 people to shore, an official told AFP May 22, as it faced mounting international pressure to tackle a regional migration crisis.
