New Democracy’s lead over PASOK narrows to 7.6 points, new poll shows
A poll released on Friday revealed that the ruling New Democracy (ND)'s lead over PASOK has narrowed to 7.6 points.
The MRB survey for OPEN TV shows New Democracy leading with 21.7%, followed by PASOK at 14.1%. The nationalist Greek Solution party holds third place with 8.5%, while the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) follows closely with 7.5%. SYRIZA ranks fifth with 6.4%.
PASOK climbs to 2nd place, poll shows
Socialist PASOK has leapfrogged over leftist SYRIZA to second place, while ruling New Democracy leads the pack by 18 points, according to a new opinion poll of voter intentions based on expected valid votes conducted by Prorata.

New government sworn in
The members of Greece's new government take the oath during a swearing-in ceremony attended by President Katerina Sakellaropoulou at the Presidential Palace in Athens on Tuesday. Center-right Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' cabinet was sworn in as his New Democracy party had 40.55%, more than twice the opposition SYRIZA party's 17.84% after Sunday's election.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ skills and luck
Kyriakos Mitsotakis proved to be the right man at the right time when he was elected to lead New Democracy in 2016. The party needed someone who knew the mechanisms of politics from an early age and, at the same time, was seen as an outsider, a technocrat who could deal with the populism of the SYRIZA-Independent Greeks government.
