Maya Manolova Officially Resigns as an Ombudsman
Maya Manolova resigns as an Ombudsman to run for mayor of Sofia. She announced this herself late Monday with a video uploaded to Facebook. The Ombudsman's press centre announced that she would deposit her resignation to the National Assembly at 15:30 today.

Maya Manolova is Expected to Resign as an Ombudsman of Bulgaria Today
Today, Maya Manolova is expected to resign as ombudsman and enter the race for mayor post in Sofia.
Manolova's nomination will be launched by an Initiative Committee. The BSP has not yet decided whether they will apply or support Maya Manolova.
Today, the Socialists will meet to discuss it. The National Council will approve some of the candidates for mayor of the party.

This was made clear in a protest in Stara Zagora in support of the fired nurse Maya Ilieva. She was the main organizer of past protests by medical professionals across the country.

How did the Mayans disappear? (video)
By the time the Spanish Conquistadors arrived in the Americas, most of the large Mayan sites had been all but abandoned for hundreds of years. Most of their cities had fallen into ruin and were being overtaken by jungle. The Maya people had splintered into small villages and towns, losing the complex social strata and rituals that supported this great civilization at its apex.
