An extremely rare Qing Dynasty bowl made for the Chinese emperor Kangxi fetched US$30.4 million at auction on April 2, Sotheby's said.

A bronze sold for $57.37 million in New York on May 15, setting a new auction record for Romanian-born sculptor Constantin Brancusi and fetching more than twice its lowest pre-sale estimate, Christie's said.

The display of Bowie’s private art collection is currently running at Sotheby’s auction house in NYC.  Bowie’s art collection heads to Hong Kong next and will then go up for auction.

With an Atlantic tailwind from May auctions in New York, in which the two biggest auction houses sold art pieces totaling more than $2 billion, many eyes are focused on major sales which began this week in London, sales which may see prices soar again to dizzying heights, Reuters has reported.
