Mayon Volcano

Thousands of residents were loaded onto military trucks in the Philippines on Dec. 25 as they fled from the path of a powerful typhoon barreling towards the disaster-prone archipelago.  

A volcano in southern Chile began erupting early March 3 forcing the evacuation of some 3,000 people in nearby villages, the government said.
      
The Villarrica volcano, one of Chile's most active, began erupting around 3:00 am (0600 GMT), prompting authorities to declare a red alert and cancel classes in schools, the National Emergency Office said.        

Lava cascaded down the Philippines' most active volcano on Sept. 17 as authorities rushed to evacuate thousands ahead of a possible deadly eruption.
