Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Virgin founder Richard Branson decided to invest together with former General Motors president Jack Welch in a start-up business with artificial meat, Bloomberg reported.

Some 65 people have been charged in connection with peddling horse meat unfit for human consumption, according to the European police agency Europol, quoted by bTV. 

You must have heard of Nusret, "Salt Bae," the famous high-society butcher who shares videos every day on social media sharpening his knives, slapping, or caressing animal bodies. He shares photographs with raw meat decorated with roses, causing meat-eaters to suffer pangs of conscience.  

The French Institute in Thessaloniki is hosting "Abattoirs de Thessalonique - Un Quartier de Palimpseste," an exhibition of works by 21 Greek photographers who were sent out to explore the changes in the western area of the northern port city that served as the central slaughterhouse and meat-packing district up until a few years ago. The show runs through April 20.

Turkey's Meat and Milk Board (ESK) started offering carcass meat for cheaper prices to butchers and delicatessens to ease increases in red meat prices as of March 27. 

The authority will supply a kilogram of meat to delicatessens for 20.5 Turkish Liras and 22.5 liras to butchers. VAT will be included in the base prices. 

China lifted a ban on imports of meat from Brazil on March 25 after Brazilian authorities clarified details of a police investigation into alleged bribery of health inspectors, in a victory for President Michel Temer's efforts to stem damage from the probe.

On Wednesday several countries have banned imports of Brazilian meat after police raided several meat producers last Friday for allegedly doling out bribes to inspectors to certify meat that was either rotten or tainted with salmonella.

Turkish police seized over a ton of smuggled meat in the Enez district of the western province of Edirne bordering Greece on April 4, in the latest attempt to smuggle cheaper meat into the country.
