Extra fine for skipping a KTEO test
Some 1 million vehicle owners have just four days left before Saturday's deadline by which their car, truck or motor cycle must have passed a roadworthiness test at a public or private roadworthiness testing center (KTEO), otherwise they face an additional fine of 150 euros to be imposed through the Finance Ministry's Taxisnet.

Cretan man faces gun running charges after police find weapons cache
Police on Crete have detained a 32-year-old man after finding a large cache of weapons an explosives at his home in Rethymno, according to a statement released on Thursday.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday after officers searched his home and turned up two Kalashnikov assault rifles, an Uzi submachine gun, nine hand grenades and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

41 killed, 299 injured in traffic accidents across Turkey since start of Eid al-Adha
Some 41 people lost their lives and 290 were injured in road accidents across Turkey in the first five days of the extended 10-day-long Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) holiday, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Aug. 30.
On the fifth day of the holiday alone, Aug. 30, some 12 people were killed and 78 were injured in accidents across the country, the agency stated.
