During his visit to North Korea's aviation agency, he emphasized that reconnaissance from space is key to confronting the US and South Korea, reports AP.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un examined a finished military spy satellite, which his country is expected to launch soon, during a visit to an aerospace facility where he described space-based reconnaissance as crucial for countering the U.S. and South Korea.

Despite stark rhetoric over North Korea's nuclear and rocket tests, US President Donald Trump said on Sunday he believed North Koreans is "a great nation," DPA reported.

At least 3.5 million young people and retired soldiers have joined the North Korean military to fight in the event of a war against the US, state media said, adding that people are rising up "to retaliate against" Washington.

North Korean state media warned the United States of a "super-mighty preemptive strike" after U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the United States was looking at ways to bring pressure to bear on North Korea over its nuclear program, Reuters writes.

North Korea said March 2 it is ready to be "merciless" in the face of joint South Korean-United States military drills that began a day earlier. 

The weeks-long annual military exercises in the South have also previously provoked Pyongyang, which views them as a preparation for invasion. 

South Korea warned Dec. 11 of "fatal" consequences for Pyongyang's leadership if provoked into conflict, after North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un oversaw a military drill simulating an attack on Seoul's presidential Blue House.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un ordered his frontline troops onto a war footing Aug. 21 to back up an ultimatum for South Korea to halt high-decibel propaganda broadcasts across the border or face concerted military action.

Terminal 2 of Pyongyang International Airport, which is reserved for international civilian flights, opened for service on July 1, state media said.
