BELGRADE - The EU is getting farther away from the Western Balkans, an area that is natural to it, with growing popular frustration in the region over the lack of a tangible EU, says Slovak FM Miroslav Lajcak, who will soon take over as president of the United Nations General Assembly.

27 companies are interested in a concession deal for Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday.
At the ceremonial opening of Etihad Airways' unified service center, Vucic said the companies included five firms from China, as well as others from France, Germany and other countries, Tanjug reported.
Colmar court seeks clarification of Serbian laws
BELGRADE - The Serbian Justice Ministry has received additional questions from the appeals court in Colmar, France, which is deciding on a Serbian extradition request for Ramus Haradinaj, the ministry told Tanjug on Friday.
The court is seeking clarification of legal provisions relating to the crimes Serbia is charging Haradinaj with.

PM: Decision against parliamentary polls aimed at stability
BELGRADE - Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic said late Monday his decision against calling early parliamentary elections simultaneously with presidential polls was due to the fact that Serbia needed stability as the region was embarking on a "period of serious instability."
Missing workers' bodies found at Kragujevac overhauls centre
KRAGUJEVAC - The bodies of the three workers who had been reported missing since Tuesday's explosion at the military Technical Overhauling Institution in Kragujevac, central Serbia, were found on Thursday following an intensive search.
Vucic attends start of works on Corridor 11 motorway section
BARIC - Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic on Wednesday attended the start of works to build a Corridor 11 motorway section that will connect the Belgrade suburban municipalities of Surcin and Obrenovac.
He noted he was grateful to Chinese friends, with whom a 208 mln euro contract had been signed after long negotiations he said had not been easy.
IMF: Review due in May as planned
BELGRADE - An International Monetary Fund team has initiated discussions with the Serbian government on the reform programme, and its findings will be announced on March 6, after the conclusion of its visit to Belgrade, Tanjug has been told at the IMF's Washington headquarters.

Hackers attempt to take down Tanjug's IT system
BELGRADE - The Tanjug News Agency has lately been targeted by DDoS hacker attacks not limited to taking down its website, but also aimed at disabling its IT system.
Telekom Srbija has said the attacks were not easily detectable.

Cornerstone laid for third Leoni plant in Nis
NIS - PM Aleksandar Vucic on Friday laid a cornerstone for a third Serbian plant of German car parts maker Leoni - a 22 mln euro investment that will create at least 2,200 jobs, potentially as many as 3,000.
The unemployed population in Nis is now down from 50,000 to under 30,000, and the goal is to reduce the number to below 20,000, Vucic said in an address at the ceremony.
