Proposal offers bigger choice of personal doctor
Citizens will be able to choose doctors not contracted to the National Organization for Healthcare Services Provision (EOPYY), taking on the cost of reimbursement for these services, according to a proposal submitted to Parliament on Wednesday.

Sofia University Cancelled all Classes at the Medical Faculty in Protest
Sofia University has terminated all classes and internships for all specialties at the Faculty of Medicine.
The action is in protest against the decision of the Minister of Health Stoycho Katsarov to transform the Lozenets Hospital by merging it into the Children's Hospital "Prof. Ivan Mitev".
EduMin Cimpeanu: I asked funding for additional 6,000 resident doctors in budget revision
Education Minister Sorin Cimpeanu announced that he asked the Finance Ministry to allot funds in the budget revision to ensure funding for over 6,000 more resident doctors in the medical higher education system, registered this year in addition to the number of 2020, the total number in 2021 being 29,000.
Health Ministry to hire 939 new doctors
Health Minister Vassilis Kontozamanis signed off on Friday on a call for 939 new permanent positions for doctors of several specialties in the National Health System.
Most of the 847 positions will staff hospitals and the remaining 92 health centers.
The platform to submit an application opens on February 16 and the deadline is March 3.
