Ankara mayor again implies foreign powers behind 'artificial earthquake' after Aegean temblor

The 6.2-magnitude earthquake in the Aegean Sea on June 12 might have been caused artificially, Ankara Mayor Melih Gökçek has said once again, demanding an investigation of seismic ships belonging to other countries in the area.

"Now I think that this might be an artificial earthquake. I do not say it is certain but it is a very serious possibility," Gökçek tweeted.

Gürsel Baran has been elected as the new chairman of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) on Dec. 3. 

In an election at ATO on Dec. 3, the parliamentary of the organization elected Baran as their new head. 

Baran won the election with 100 votes over Osman Gökçek, the son of Ankara Mayor Melih Gökçek, who received 86 votes.

Turkish delegation visit to Crimea was not official: Turkish Foreign Ministry

Turkish Foreign Ministry on Nov. 25 said a Turkish delegation's recent visit to Crimea was "unofficial."

The ministry's spokesperson Ambassodor Hüseyin Müftüoğlu said the visit, covered by media outlets, took place with an "initiative of an unofficial delegation, without asking for our ministry's opinion and permission."
