This was confirmed at a meeting between Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and Turkey's Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik, the government's information office said.

Turkey's EU minister calls Merkel's remarks on customs union 'unfortunate'

Turkey's EU Minister Ömer Çelik on Aug. 17 described as "unfortunate" German Chancellor Angela Merkel's remarks suggesting that Berlin would not pursue an update of the customs union with Ankara. 

Çelik said bilateral problems between the two countries should not be reflected on Turkey's relationship with the EU.

Turkey wants full EU membership, says Minister Çelik

Turkey's European Union Affairs Minister Ömer Çelik has reiterated that his country wants to become a full member of the European Union and will not be open to any other offer apart from that.        

Speaking at the 36th Turkey-EU Joint Advisory Committee in Brussels on July 18, Ömer Çelik said Turkey's "strategic aim" in the EU accession talks is to gain full membership.
