US President Biden receives Turkey's ambassador
President Joe Biden received Turkey's U.S. envoy, Hasan Murat Mercan, at the White House this week, the embassy announced on April 8.
Mercan was received by the U.S. president on April 4. A photo of Mercan in the Oval Office was posted on his personal Twitter account, and on the account of the Turkish embassy in Washington.
Mercan took office on March 15, 2021.

Turkey's new envoy aims to advance relations with US
Turkey's new U.S. ambassador said on March 16 that he aims to advance relations with the U.S., a day after taking office in Washington, DC.
In a video message addressed to the Turkish American community, Hasan Murat Mercan said transatlantic relations have been important for Turkey and will continue to be of importance.

Turkey's former ambassador to Tokyo, Hasan Murat Mercan, was officially appointed as Turkey's ambassador to Washington on Feb. 24.
The appointment decisions of some ambassadors regarding the reshuffle at the Foreign Ministry were published in the Official Gazette.
John Malkovich to perform in Istanbul
Turkey will feature renowned actor, director, and producer John Malkovich as part of the fourth Turkcell Platinum Istanbul Night Flight concerts.
The event will kick off March 13 in Istanbul and will continue through Oct. 29 at Aya Irini and Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Turkey appoints ambassadors to Croatia, Sudan
The Turkish Foreign Ministry appointed new ambassadors to Croatia and Sudan on Aug. 30, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
The appointments were issued in the Official Gazette on Aug. 31.
Mustafa Babür Hızlan, who was on duty as the bilateral relations general manager of the Foreign Ministry, was appointed as ambassador to Croatia's Zagreb.

Ancient wall frieze found in Zonguldak
Officials from the Ere?li Museum Directorate have found a nearly 2,000-year-old and 100-kilogram wall frieze in a village in the Ere?li district of Zonguldak province in northern Turkey.
The frieze is a sculptured stone depicting a number of figures and is around one meter long.
