Erdoğan sets World Cup as target after Türkiye's Euros exit
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has set his sights on the 2026 World Cup following Türkiye's elimination in the Euro 2024 quarterfinals, expressing optimism about the national team's future prospects.
"From now on, we will walk by raising the target," Erdoğan told journalists aboard his return flight from Germany on July 7.

UEFA has launched an investigation into Turkey soccer player Merih Demiral's "alleged inappropriate behavior" after he celebrated a goal at Euro 2024 by displaying a hand sign associated with an ultra-nationalist group.

Turkey sets eyes on World Cup berth
Turkey heads to Montenegro on Nov. 16 night knowing that a victory would be enough for it to secure a top-two finish in its 2022 World Cup qualification group.
