An electronic ticket for 11 archaeological sites including the capital's National Archaeological Museum and Byzantine Museum is set to come into effect from June 1 as the tourist season enters its peak, Kathimerini understands.

The Oichalia Municipality and the Athenaeum International Cultural center pay homage to the celebrated Greek soprano Maria Callas on the occasion of 2017 having been dedicated to her memory, with a concert at the archaeological site of Ancient Messene in the Peloponnese, on Saturday, September 16.

Celebrated singer Alkistis Protopsalti is on tour with accomplished composer Stavros Xarchakos, who will be joining her in a program comprising some of his iconic songs and popular ballads.

The pair are accompanied by a nine-strong music ensemble and will be performing at the Ancient Theater of Messene in the southern Peloponnese on Thursday, July 27, starting at 9.30 p.m.

Firefighters continued on Tuesday to battle a large blaze in the southwestern Peloponnese that prompted authorities to partially evacuate four villages and take emergency measures for the protection of an ancient city.
