Former Turkish premier passes away at age 86
Turkey's Yıldırım Akbulut, who served as both prime minister and parliament speaker, passed away on April 14 in Ankara, the Turkish capital. He was 86.
A parliamentarian for nearly two decades - from 1983 to 2002 - Akbulut had been receiving treatment at Ankara University Hospital.

Erdoğan could become 'Turkey's de Gaulle' if he accomplishes EU process: Former PM
Former Prime Minister Mesut Yılmaz has said President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan could become "Turkey's Charles de Gaulle" if he upgrades the country's democratic standards and positively change its history, as de Gaulle did for France in the late 1950s.
The power contest
Obviously some degree of "power contest" between the president and the prime minister cannot be avoided if both of them have a political background and strong aspirations to engrave their name on the list of people who contributed most to the advancement of his nation.
