Greece should not try Turkey's patience: FM Çavuşoğlu

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has warned Greece not to try the country's patience amid fresh tension between the two countries over remarks by Greek Foreign Minister Nicos Kotzias, which he described as "provocative."

"Basically, we have many similar sides [with Greece] but ultimately, Greece should not allow one spoiled child to overshadow all of these," he said Feb. 26. 

Turkish PM Yıldırım meets German chancellor, Azerbaijani president

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has held talks with the German chancellor and Azerbaijani president in Munich on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on Feb. 18. 

Yıldırım first met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Feb. 18, for a breakfast meeting in Munich. 
While the meeting was closed to the press, it lasted around 50 minutes. 

Zero tolerance for terrorism everywhere: Turkish FM in Cologne

Terrorism cannot be tolerated anywhere, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Feb. 16 ahead of a security conference in Munich.       

"It's our [Turkey's] right to expect concrete steps [on counter-terrorism efforts]," Çavuşoğlu said during an event organized by the government-linked Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD) in Cologne. 

No Turkish journalist arrested for writing stories, Turkish FM says

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has said that here are no journalists currently under custody in Turkey just for doing their jobs and writing stories. 

The minister's comments appeared in four Spanish dailies Saturday following a one-day official visit to Madrid on Friday, during which he gave an interview to El Pais, El Mundo, ABC and La Razon. 

Turkey, Dominican Republic agree to boost tourism ties

Turkey and the Dominican Republic have agreed to boost cooperation on tourism, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said during a visit to the Caribbean state on Feb. 2.        

Speaking in a joint news conference following a meeting with his Dominican counterpart, Miguel Vargas, Çavuşoğlu said the agreement aimed to increase tourist flow.        

Turkey records huge drop in Aegean Sea refugee crossings to Greece in January

The number of refugees caught crossing the Aegean Sea between Turkey and Greece fell by 86 percent month-on-month in January, data from the Turkish Coast Guard said on Feb. 1.

The data reflects the success of the EU-Turkey deal that came into effect in March 2016 to reduce illegal migration and clamp down on human trafficking. 

Turkey Might Cancel Readmission Agreement With Greece

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stated on Friday that Turkey will take the necessary steps against Athens after the decision of the Greek Supreme Court not to extradite the eight Turkish officers who fled the country after the coup attempt on July 15, reported Daily Sabah, citing TRT Haber.
