New U.S. ambassador in Belgrade is "expert on Russia"
Washington confirmed in late 2015 that the new U.S. ambassador to Serbia will be Kyle Scott, an expert on Eastern Europe and Russia.
Scott, a graduate of Arizona State University, will replace Michael Kirby whose mandate expires at the end of this month.
Minister receives U.S. ambassador for farewell visit
Serbian Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic received on Wednesday U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby for a farewell visit.
Tanjug said that Sertic "thanked him for the U.S. government helping Serbia, particularly when it comes to creating a favorable business environment and attracting investors from the United States."
Statement attributed to ambassador denied by U.S. embassy
The U.S. embassy in Belgrade has stated that Ambassador Michael Kirby had not said what is attributed to him in a transcript published online.
The transcript in question is of a phone conversation between Bojan Pajtic and Lidija Udovicki.
Kirby: Who ordered police withdrawal from embassies?
U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby says it should be determined who is responsible for withdrawal the police from the U.S., German and Croatian embassies.
He was referring to the incidents in 2008, when the U.S. embassy was set on fire, and said this should be determined in order for the cases to be finally closed.
Psychiatric treatment for threatening Matic, officials
The Higher Court in Belgrade has ordered Nemanja Ristic to undergo mandatory psychiatric treatment, and released him from custody.
Ristic was on trial for threatening B92 news Editor-in-Chief Veran Matic, U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby, and Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac.
U.S. National Guard funds refurbishing of two facilities
Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic and U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby visited on Thursday the two facilities in Bujanovac, southern Serbia.
They are a music school and a kindergarten whose reconstruction was funded by the U.S. National Guard of Ohio with USD 130,000.

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and U.S. Ambassador Michael Kirby met on Thursday and "discussed the progress in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue."
This came ahead of a new round of the dialogue in Brussels on June 23.
