Vucic to meet Mogherini in Brussels on Wednesday

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will meet with EU foreign policy and security chief Federica Mogherini in Brussels on Wednesday before he pays a visit to NATO.

At the NATO headquarters, he will meet with the alliance's Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and address the ambassadors of NATO member states at a North Atlantic Council meeting.

Serbia receives support from Mogherini, says Vucic

President Aleksandar Vucic said after meeting with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini that Serbia received support for the continuation of the EU road.

"We talked about regional issues. Stability and peace are a fundamental interest both for Serbia and the EU," Vucic wrote at Twitter after the meeting in Brussels.

Mogherini: EU has the strongest influence in the Western Balkans region

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini believes that the EU has the strongest influence in the Western Balkans region.

"I am not worried about the influence or the presence of any of the other partners that countries in the region can have" Mogherini said, and added:

Most of the EU's Member States Have Signed up to a Plan for Closer Defence Co-Operation

Most of the European Union's member states have signed up to a plan for closer defence co-operation.

The UK and Republic of Ireland are among five states not participating.

The other 23 are now committed to the permanent structured military co-operation ("Pesco") plan to boost their defence budgets and joint capabilities.
