The United States' military presence in the Gulf used to be a serious threat but now it is an opportunity, a senior commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards said on May 12, according to the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA).

The bill was passed a day after the US terrorism designation for Iran's Revolutionary Guard took effect, AP reported citing Iran's state TV.

Iranian lawmakers dressed in paramilitary uniforms chanted "Death to America" as they convened on April 9 for an open session of parliament after the White House designated Iran's Revolutionary Guard a foreign terrorist organization.

The United States is expected to designate Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards Corps a foreign terrorist organization, three U.S. officials told Reuters, marking the first time Washington formally labels another country's military a terrorist group.

A senior commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Major General Qassem Soleimani, also declared the end of Islamic State in a message sent to the country's supreme leader Tuesday which was published on Sepah News, the news site of the Guards.

Iran warned the United States against designating its Revolutionary Guards Corp as a terrorist group and said U.S. regional military bases would be at risk if further sanctions were passed.

Iran has made a bomb that dwarfs the most powerful non-nuclear weapon the US possesses. According to Iranian military commander, General Amir Ali Hajiabeh, who labeled the ordinance as Iran’s “father of all bombs”, the new weapon can be launched from Russian-made Illyushin aircraft and are highly destructive.
