Parliament elects new finance minister

BELGRADE -- The Serbian parliament on Monday elected Dušan Vujović to the position of the new finance minister with 175 votes in favor and nine against.

BELGRADE - The Finance Ministry released on Friday that it is forced to halt the implementation of all the measures previously agreed on with representatives of bar associations which aim to reduce the tax base as certain bar associations decided to continue their strike.

An Athens court has accepted an appeal by hundreds of Finance Ministry cleaners who were put into a so-called mobility scheme of forced transfers and dismissals, the womens' lawyer Yiannis Karouzos said on Friday, referring to a "landmark decision."

According to Karouzos, the Athens Court of First Instance upheld the appeal by the 397 workers, ordering that the women be rehired.
