Turkey replaces land forces commander in routine reshuffle
Turkey has replaced Land Forces Commander Gen. Ümit Dündar with 1st Army Commander Gen. Musa Avsever in a routine reshuffle as the former is retired as per the age limitation, while Navy and Air forces commander's mandates are extended for another year.

Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, Chief of General Staff Gen. Yaşar Güler and force commanders entered the New Year with surprise visits to land, sea and air units.
Defense minister Akar vows to fight terrorism until the end
The Defense Minister on Feb. 2 reiterated that Turkey continues its fight against terrorism.
Turkey continues counter-terror efforts both in the field on an operational basis and at the table on diplomacy basis, Hulusi Akar said.
Akar's remarks came during his meeting with commandos on ground zero at Turkish-Iraqi border.

Defense chief visits SE province amid blast
Turkey's defense minister on Nov 9 visited southeastern Hakkari province where at least 25 soldiers were injured by an accidental explosion of defective ammunition.
Hulusi Akar was accompanied by Turkish Chief of General Staff Yaşar Güler and the commander of Turkish Land Forces Ümit Dündar.
Akar visited the soldiers at Hakkari State Hospital.
