Mondrian painting hanging upside down for 77 years
A painting by Dutch abstract painter Piet Mondrian has been hanging upside down for 77 years, says a curator at the German museum.
A large retrospective of the avant garde artist's work went on display Saturday at the Kunstsammlung museum in Dusseldorf, and one of the pieces on show is "New York City 1," painted in 1941.

Francis Bacon triptych fetches 24.3 mn pounds at London sale
A triptych by British painter Francis Bacon of one of his muses sold for 24.3 million pounds (27.9 million euros) at an auction in London on Oct. 14.
Entitled "Three studies for Portrait of Henrietta Moraes," it is composed of three small canvases roughly 35 cm by 30 cm.
It served as studies for a portrait of Henrietta Moraes.

Curators at an Israeli museum have discovered three previously unknown sketches by celebrated 20th-century artist Amedeo Modigliani hiding beneath the surface of one of his paintings.
Francis Bacon painting of Lucian Freud sells $52 mln
A painting by Irish-born British artist Francis Bacon of fellow U.K. painter Lucian Freud sold on June 29 for 43.3 million pounds ($52.5 million, 50.2 million euros), according to Sotheby's auction house.
The price is an auction record for a painting by Bacon sold in London and also for any single panel painting by the artist.

Eleven masterpieces by Pablo Picasso fetched $108.9 million at a Sotheby's auction in Las Vegas on Oct. 23.
The works went under the hammer at the Bellagio hotel and casino, known for its extensive art collection, ahead of what would have been the Spanish painter's 140th birthday.
Picasso kept in Maine house closet for 50 years is sold
A mixed-media painting attributed to Pablo Picasso has been sold after spending 50 years in a closet in a house in Maine.
John McInnis Auctioneers, based in Massachusetts, confirmed that the painting entitled "Le Tricorne" sold last week, the Boston Globe reported.
Stolen Picasso Painting Found in Greece
Nine years after it was stolen, the Greek authorities presented the recovered painting "Woman's Head" by Pablo Picasso to the public.
A 49-year-old Greek man was arrested on Monday and had confessed the theft from the Athens Pinacotheca in 2012.

Sofia Art Gallery Opens First 3D Exhibition of Chagall and Dali
The first virtual 3D exhibition opens today the Sofia gallery Oborishte 5. The exhibition is titled "The Bible Through the Eyes of Chagall and Dali". It includes 20 colorful lithographs by Salvador Dali and Marc Chagall, some of them have not been shown before in Bulgaria.

Pera Museum, which has brought works by many famous artists to Turkey, now presents an important selection of its exhibitions on its YouTube channel. The video series include Frida Kahlo-Diego Rivera, Fernando Botero, Andy Warhol, Rembrandt, Goya and Giorgio de Chirico, Joan Miró and Yıldız Moran.
