Flu Epidemic in Place for 23 Bulgarian Regions

Today, the regional health inspectorate in Montana also declared a flu epidemic in the area. School classes have been cancelled until 4 February 2019. Regular consultations of pregnant women and children, hospital visits and planned operations and vaccinations are suspended until further notice, reports Focus News Agency. 

Classes Cancelled in over 1,370 Schools and Kindergartens in Bulgaria due to the Flu

Classes have been cancelled in over 1,370 schools and kindergartens due to the flu, said the press office of the Ministry of Education and Science.
From today, 267 schools in Sofia-city, 124 schools in Blagoevgrad region, 105 schools in Pleven region and 41 schools in Kyustendil region will have no classes because of the flu.

Flu Epidemic is Announced in Silistra and Haskovo

From today, a flu epidemic has been announced for Silistra and Haskovo, so epidemic districts become 14, reported the Bulgarian National Television. 

About a quarter of the country's educational institutions are in a forced vacation. From today all schools in the districts: Burgas, Stara Zagora and Shumen are again open. 

Flu Epidemic in Place for 12 Districts in Bulgaria

The number of Bulgarian regions with high flu rates are now 12 after three additional regions - Plovdiv, Sofia region and Varna - have declared flu epidemic as of Tuesday. An epidemic was previously declared in the regions of Pernik, Pazardzhik, Smolyan, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Yambol, Burgas, Shumen, Dobrich and Silistra.

NIMH: Code Orange for Heavy Precipitations in 5 Regions in Bulgaria, Yellow in 12 Regions

A code orange warning for heavy precipitations has been issued for Smolyan, Kardzhali, Haskovo, Yambol and Burgas, a yellow alert is in place for 12 regions, according to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology's (NIMH) website. Precipitations of 35-50 l/sq m are expected in the first five regions, snowfall in Smolyan.
