At least 70 hostages have been killed in Thursday's attack by Islamist militants on a university campus in Kenya, the BBC reported, citing officials.

According to Kenyan authorities, at least 79 were injured while more than 500 students were rescued from the Garissa University College campus.

The bodies of dozens of students massacred by Somalia's Shebab Islamists at a Kenyan university arrived in the capital Friday, as grieving relatives faced a desperate wait to receive the remains of their loved ones.
      

Gunmen barged at a Garissa University College in Kenya, near the border with Somalia, and attacked people at the university compounds. Two people manning the university gate have been killed and four injured according to figures so far, however the extent of the damage is still uncleara.
