Tennis: Patricia Tig, through to Bad Homburg (WTA) round of 16
Romanian tennis player Patricia Tig qualified on Sunday for the round of 16 of the WTA tournament in Bad Homburg, Germany, with total prize money worth 189,708 euro, while Sorana Cirstea lost in the first round. Tig (aged 26, 61st in the WTA ranking) defeated German Mona Barthel (30, 187th in the WTA) 7-6 (4), 6-3, after one hour and 49 minutes.
Tsvetana Pironkova Wins 1st Round Match of French Open
Bulgaria's top tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova won by 6-0; 6-4 in a match from the first round of the French Open vs Mona Barthel, Germany, reported BNR.
The Bulgarian player needed to win the match to keep her place in the top 100.
After reaching the quarter finals in Paris last year, Pironkova is now 77th seed.
Garcia dismisses Ivanovic again
STUTTGART - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic was driven out of the WTA event in Stuttgart late Tuesday by Caroline Garcia, after a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 defeat in the first round.
Garsia ousted Ivanovic for the third straight time in 2015. She previously beat the Serbian player in Monterey (6-1, 6-4) and Indian Wells (6-2, 5-7, 6-2).

Ivanovic off to winning start in Birmingham
BIRMINGHAM - Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanovic made a winning start at the WTA tournament in Birmingham, after defeating Mona Barthel of Germany 6-4, 6-1 in a second-round match on Tuesday.
Ivanovic has been seeded first for the tournament in Birmingham so she skipped the first round.
