Mount Athos pilgrim dies in fall

A 62-year-old man was killed on Tuesday after falling down a ravine on Mount Athos in northern Greece.

The man was on a pilgrimage to the monastic community and slipped while hiking along a trail connection the monasteries of Simon Petras and Aghios Grigorios, together with three friends.

Historic Syriac monastery needs attention

A 1,300-year-old historic rock monastery near the Barıştepe village in the southeastern province of Mardin's Midyat district is waiting to be discovered. 

Also known as the Mor Barsavmo Monastery, where Syriac priests are estranged, some of its outer walls collapsed because of negligence and some of the historic inscriptions were destroyed. 

Many Tourists will Spend the Night at Rila Monastery before Assumption of Mary

Dozens of tourists chose to spend the night in Rila Monastery for the upcoming celebration of the feast day of the Assumption of Mary, which Bulgarian Orthodox Church celebrates on 15th of August, reported the Bulgarian National Television. 

Many people have decided to spend the night in tents close to the monastery and attend the morning liturgy to pray for health.

Sinai monks safe after ISIS attack

Pilgrims and monks at the Greek Orthodox monastery of Saint Catherine - one the world's most ancient Christian monasteries - in the Sinai peninsula in Egypt are reportedly well after gunmen attacked a checkpoint near the entrance to the complex late Tuesday, killing two officers and injuring four.
